Grade 4
Fourth grade is a year when the world begins to grow a little bigger. Students are becoming more curious about what lies beyond themselves—about the people, places, stories, animals, and natural world around them. At the same time, they are developing new confidence in what they can do, create, and understand.
At Dreamers, we meet that curiosity with learning that feels rich, active, and connected. Students might explore the geography and history of the place they call home, become immersed in stories and mythology, investigate the relationship between humans and animals, wrestle with a new mathematical idea, or bring what they have learned to life through writing, drawing, mapping, and hands-on work.
The arts are woven naturally into our days. Students paint with watercolor, draw, create beautiful Main Lesson Books, tell stories, work with their hands, and use art as another way to explore and deepen what they are learning. Academic work becomes something they don't just read about—they experience it, think about it, create from it, and make it their own.
Movement and time outdoors are an important part of the rhythm, too. Students participate in physical education, yoga, folk games and rhymes, spend time outdoors, and enjoy recess with friends. There is time for focused work, but also time to move, laugh, create, and connect.
Fourth graders are ready for meaningful challenges. We help students strengthen their reading, writing, mathematics, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills while encouraging them to ask questions, persevere when something feels difficult, and take pride in doing beautiful, thoughtful work.
And because our classes are intentionally small, teachers can truly know each child. We can recognize their strengths, support them through challenges, nurture their interests, and help them grow in both confidence and independence.
We want our fourth graders to leave Dreamers knowing more about the world around them—and more about themselves. To be curious enough to ask questions, confident enough to try something difficult, creative enough to see more than one possibility, and excited to discover what comes next.
