Students are invited to join us for a Waldorf-inspired schedule that includes: Process Art, Yoga & Mindfulness, Lunch, and Main Lesson.
Main Lesson Teacher: Taylor Bell
PROCESS ART
In this class we will investigate and experiment with different mediums through process art. Process art focuses on the creative process rather than the end result. Students will familiarize themselves with different techniques and how the materials respond. By doing so, they are able to gain confidence in their creative expression.
Yoga & Mindfulness
This class begins with an alignment-based yoga practice to build strength, mobility, and body awareness. We then take those physical skills to our mental and emotional lives. We learn skills to help us regulate emotions, navigate fear, increase self-compassion and self-confidence, and strengthen our relationships.
Main Lesson
Second grade deepens academic learning while exploring themes of kindness, courage, and humor through storytelling. Students continue strengthening their reading and writing skills through spelling, grammar, creative writing, and longer reading passages. In math, students build confidence with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and problem solving.
Second Grade Blocks
• Hero & Saint Stories – exploring courage, kindness, and perseverance
• Trickster Tales – humorous stories that explore human nature
• Grammar & Writing – expanding sentence structure and storytelling
• Math Foundations – strengthening multiplication and problem solving
Art, nature study, and hands-on projects continue to support learning.
Additional activities may include:
Circle Time- This is a beautiful time of connection, as we bridge home life and school life.
Artistic Projects- There will be a focus on artistic activities that encourage the child’s natural sense of beauty and color.
Outdoor and Play Times- These activities will be incorporated into the day so that students have a natural balance of active play time and time to quietly focus.
Sensory Garden- Spending time in our outdoor sensory garden will allow students to use and nourish all of their senses while connecting to nature.
