Students are invited to join us for a Waldorf-inspired schedule that includes: Yoga & Mindfulness, Main Lesson, and Astronomy.

Main Lesson Teacher: Kristy Hall

YOGA & MINDFULNESS

This class begins with an alignment-based yoga practice to build strength, mobility, and body awareness. We then take those physical skills to our mental and emotional lives. We learn skills to help us regulate emotions, navigate fear, increase self-compassion and self-confidence, and strengthen our relationships.

Main Lesson

During the upper elementary years, students expand their academic abilities while developing stronger critical thinking skills. Students explore history, geography, literature, and science through projects, research, and discussion while strengthening writing and communication skills. In mathematics, students continue building problem-solving abilities while exploring more advanced concepts such as fractions, decimals, and ratios.

Upper Elementary Blocks

• Ancient Civilizations – cultures such as Greece, Rome, and early world societies

• World Geography – studying regions and cultures of the world

• Earth Science & Natural Systems – ecosystems, geology, and environmental studies

• Writing & Research – essays, reports, and presentations

• Mathematical Reasoning – developing stronger analytical thinking

These years help students develop independence and deeper academic confidence.

Additional activities may include:

  • Artistic Projects- There will be a focus on artistic activities that encourage the child’s natural sense of beauty and color.

  • Outdoor and Play Times- These activities will be incorporated into the day so that students have a natural balance of active play time and time to quietly focus.

  • Sensory Garden- Spending time in our outdoor sensory garden will allow students to use and nourish all of their senses while connecting to nature.

ASTRONOMY

Explore the wonders of our celestial neighborhood and gain an understanding of the forces and planets that shape our solar system.
